moon farmer
Being a moon farmer isn't half bad. You get to spend much more time in the sunlight than the rest of the colony. You quickly realize how fragile the little moon colony is. No one is actually going hungry yet, but it would take only one failed crop to threat all of you with extinction. Your work is important!
You make friends with other Lunans your age. They all see you as extremely strong, but kind of clumsy- a side effect of your being used to Earth gravity. You can lift objects 16 times more massive than you could at home and jump 16 times further. But you bump into the walls alot.
These kids know alot about technology that you have never even heard of. They spend alot of time playing electronic games and chatting with each other on electronic devices. But the things they dont know about are hilarious. How dirt works for instance, and trees and plants. They dont even know what a stick is. They've never heard of wood, for crying out loud. These things that come so naturally to you make you a valuable member of the farming committee. You get used to the farming team looking to you for advice and leadership.
Everything your new friends know about Earth comes from books and from seeing it over head, every day. The Earth is much bigger and bluer and brighter in the sky than the moon ever was at home. Its always seems strange to you, how it never rises or sets. It just sits there, always in the same place in the sky. But it does go through phases and it rotates so that sometimes you can tell your Lunan friends that they are looking up at your old home. On those days, you think about your family and wonder if any of them are looking up at you. Someday you hope to find a way back, but for now you and Clarrise make the best life you can living in the grey sands of the moon.
