Clarice catches you’re your eye and you nod
Clarice catches your eye and you nod. Sometimes its better to be bold and take the initiative. Trying to seem like hiding was the last thing on your mind, the two of you stride into the clearing that was once a gas station parking lot, as if you owned it. Clarice slashes away a bit of of brush with her machete, purely for effect.
“Hi everybody!” she says loudly, smiling as if she did this sort of thing everyday. “Is that fuel still good?
The Pie Rats all stare at Clarice and her machete, startled. A one eyed man with a scar across his face loses his grip on the canister he had been filling and spills a huge puddle of gasoline onto the broken pavement. They all tentatively finger their weapons and edge closer to each other, while moving further away from the two of you. The biggest of the crew glances back at his fellows, licks his lips and tries to glare.
“Who are you?!” His snarl is unconvincing” Where’d you two come from?!”
“You mean us?” Clarise pivots left and right almost comically. “We were just out on maneuvers. Routine recon mission, you know. We’re with the Rangers-the militia? You boys were making such a racket the Colonel had to send out a patrol to investigate”
“Rangers? Patrol?” grunts the pirate leader
“I aint never heard of no Rangers” chips in another
“Huh.” Clarice puts her hands on her hips and shakes her head as if she’s never met such uninformed people before. She’s putting on a great show. But you can’t help but feel a little nervous. But then a tall dark haired pirate, easily the prettiest of the bunch says:
“Rangers. I’ve heard of em Boss.” She looks at Clarice” We didn’t realize we were on Ranger territory. How much do we owe you for the fuel?”
Clarice blinks just once, but otherwise shows no sign of surprise. Of course she made the Rangers up just now, out of nothing but her imagination. She doesn’t seem to know what to say, so you feel like you’d best speak up.
Do you tell the pirates that the fuel is not important? (sorry! this option is still being written! try back later!)
