Your work in communications is pretty routine. You keep the colonies equipment functional, and stay in touch as much as possible with the other humans living in space. It turns out that a few space stations still have people living on them and there are also people working for the Kaa on their orbiting base.
You've become pretty good at your job, when a few years later you detect a communication coming from an unexpected place- The Earth! Its a small community that has made some remarkable advances in technology, hidden in the mountains not far from your old home. They even have a handle on some Kaa technology and with their help, you are able to get your old Kaa ship up and flying again!
Several months later, you and Clarrise reboard your repaired craft, now as skilled pilots instead of crash landing bumblers. You make plans with your new friends in the mountains to meet them in person when you return to Earth. You fly out to the other stranded colonies and offer rides to anyone interested. Your friends in the tech crew come with you, planning to return in the Kaa ship, bringing much needed supplies from earth to the moon and other colonies. You all vow to stay in touch via radio. There will even be visits now that flight between the two world's is possible again.
But first, you are going home to your aunts, uncles, cousins and parents for the best family reunion ever. What will they say when you tell them where you have been??!!
