What is "After the Kaa Wars?"
When I was a kid I loved the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books. I have fond memories of Christmas break, sitting on the floor, wrapped up in a blanket, hogging the heater vent, paging through the latest COYA books that Santa had brought me. Reading became interactive, not just passive. An exploration, not just entertainment. I could never be sure if I had completely plumbed the mini universes contained in each book. I loved having choices!
After the Kaa Wars is my attempt to create my own COYA adventure. Its still under construction, although I have ALOT more written than I have transferred to this website. It turns out that this format of writing is more demanding than I would have guessed at first. Outline one cohesive story? Try 60 interweaving ones!
I began this project in 2014 or so, writing on physical paper with a physical pen. It quickly got messy and hard to keep track of, and I was forced to begin experimenting with different ways to organize the various plot paths for the sake of my own sanity. Unfortunately, I found several BAD ways of doing this, and so the story is stored in multiple formats in multiple locations, with multiple page numbering systems and its all one big juju flop situation. Belgium, man Belgium!
It occurred to me recently that a website might be ideal for storing and managing this mess, and so I am trying it out. I think this might be the way to go.
Still I am having fun with it. My apologies for the typos and general sloppiness. If you have staggered onto this, leave a comment. I love feedback, positive and negative.
