arrow keys
"How about... this?" Clarisse taps an arrow key pointing to the left. The thrum of the ship changes pitch, and this time you see the earth beneath you shift dramatically away, towards the right.
"Okay Okay, yeah! So what about..." You tap the right pointing arrow key, and the earth (which isn't much bigger than the moon behind you now) shifts back again!
"Oh yeah!" you gloat "Look who's FLYING a FREAKING SPACESHIP BABY!"
But Clarrise is looking out the window and up, away from the Earth now.
"Hey, come look at this!" she says, pointing. You do. Shes pointing at the moon. Which is now much, much bigger in your window that the Earth is. In fact, its hogging up quite a bit of the sky.
"Okaaaaay... we need to learn how to pilot this thing right away, before we crash into that thing!"
The two of you man the control panel. Knowing what the arrow keys are for is a huge step forward and with a little experimentation the rest of the controls rapidly start to make sense. You avoid making any huge mistakes by not making any huge changes. After an hour or so of this kind of work, however the moon is downright huge in front of you, and you are starting to feel its gravity pulling you in.
"We've gotta do it soon. We've gotta try to turn this thing around if we ever want to get home." says Clarisse. If you agree to try, click here.
"I'm not sure I can do it!" you say "This things seems to want to go to the moon! Maybe we ought to let it?!" Click here if you decide to wait and try for a soft moon landing.
