Being part of the tech crew is fascinating. These people know so much about things you have only heard about in old stories.

You feel like you aren't much use to the crew at first and you spend a lot of time just running simple errands for them. They ask you a few questions about your time flying the Kaa ship, but you have to answer "I dunno" a lot.

But you learn a lot from just hanging out with the tech crew. You learn about things like electrically and computers and astronomy. You are blown away by the sheer number of ways to use electricity. Electric lights, electric  radio, electric  video, electric  tools, even electric books and mail.

When you find out that they actually have the history of the earth stored electronically, you become temporarily obsessed. You can finally learn what the Kaa wars were all about and what year it is!


But, unfortunately, the crew makes little progress understanding the Kaa ship, and one day Hrishi tells the crew that he needs them to divide up and move on to other projects. You are offered the option of joining the team that will working on radio communications or a group that is focused on finding ways to make more farm-able land.
